What types of soil mixes does Lucy's Soil offer?
We offer a full line of professional-grade growing mixes including conventional greenhouse germination and growing mixes, OMRI-listed organic mixes, all-purpose retail potting soils, and specialty mixes like raised bed mix, tree & shrub mix, and soil blocking mix. We also offer custom "Create Your Own" mixes.
Where are your products manufactured?
All of our potting mixes are locally prepared, mixed, and bagged onsite at our facility at 1418 Hayes Rd in Tipton, Iowa. We've been operating out of this location since 1985.
Do you offer organic products?
Yes! We have a complete line of organic mixes including the Lucy's #10 Organic Germination Plus, Lucy's #12 Organic Germination Mix, Lucy's #11 Organic Growing Mix Plus, Lucy's #13 Organic Growing Mix, and our Organic Soil Blocking Mix. Our organic mixes are formulated with OMRI-listed ingredients. Contact us for information regarding organic certification.
What areas do you serve?
We supply growers across Iowa, Illinois, Wisconsin, Minnesota, Nebraska, Missouri, South Dakota, and other Midwest states. We also supply FFA programs in Iowa and neighboring states.
Can I buy directly from your facility?
Yes! You can purchase directly from our Tipton, Iowa facility at 1418 Hayes Rd. Our business hours are Monday through Friday, 9am to 4pm. Give us a call at (319) 500-3505.
Do you offer wholesale pricing?
Yes. Mixes are available in loose fill bags by the bag, or in pallet quantities for our wholesale customers. Contact us for wholesale pricing and early order programs.
What other products do you carry besides soil?
We are a full service horticultural supply company. In addition to soil mixes and amendments, we offer greenhouse pots, flats, and trays, liquid and water-soluble fertilizers, greenhouse panels and film, irrigation equipment, and hydroponic growing supplies.
How do I know which mix is right for me?
It depends on your application! For plug trays, start with our Lucy's #1 or #1A. For general growing, our Lucy's #4 bark-based mix is our most popular. For organic operations, our Lucy's #10 or #12 germination mixes are excellent starting points. Call us at (319) 500-3505 - we're happy to help you find the right fit.
How long has Lucy's Soil been around?
Lucy's Soil has been hand-crafting soil in Tipton, Iowa since 1985. In 2021, owner Jessica Keller refreshed the brand as Lucy's Soil, named after her dog Lucy. Same quality, same family operation, same commitment to growers across the Midwest.
